Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm year-round

At Calo, you’ll work in small classroom environments (up to 12 students) with the support needed to deliver individualized instruction that nurtures confidence, resilience, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Responsibilities

Instructional & Student Support

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated Science instruction tailored to student needs
  • Provide academic tools and supports to bridge learning gaps
  • Model patience, structure, and positive reinforcement

Classroom Leadership

  • Foster a safe, consistent, and emotionally attuned learning environment
  • Implement effective behavioral and classroom management strategies

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Partner closely with clinicians, teachers, and direct care staff
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with school and state requirements
  • Ensure compliance with state academic standards, DESE expectations, and internal policies

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Valid Missouri teaching certification
  • Content‑Specific Certification (DESE‑Aligned):
    • Social Studies: Candidates must hold Middle School Social Science (5–9) or Secondary Social Science (9–12) certification.
    • Science: Candidates must hold the appropriate Missouri subject‑specific Science certification aligned to grade level:
      • Middle School (5–9): Middle School Science (5–9)
      • High School (9–12): A content‑specific Science endorsement such as Biology (9–12), Chemistry (9–12), Earth Science (9–12), or Physics (9–12)
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks and drug screening
  • Must be 21 years or older

Preferred

  • Special Education certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience serving students with academic gaps and behavioral challenges
  • Strong understanding of how behavioral and emotional needs impact learning
  • Excellent communication skills and strengths in small‑group or individualized instruction
  • Adaptable, patient, collaborative, and student‑centered educator
